“The Champions stand shocked as defeat was plucked from the jaws of victory here. Great effort from the Vamps from Sylvania but we horribly let this go late on.
We thought we had the power to hurt our opposition today but with a substantial 51 blocks made and Vamps sometimes biting their own we still couldn't get a player advantage and so it was had to get complete control. Things started bad when our first hits were tame and our merc was ko'd. So we scored quite quick as we had to desperately use our team training skills to keep the drive going. Then on defence we kept prodding at their cage so eventually after some Vamp hypnosis a thrall decided to go for broke and dash forward. After a Saurus blocked one thrall away Amazonia then had a straightforward blitz chance to make Krygor the thrall pay for his risky attempt. Amazonia charged head down, struck the thrall, and both went down hard. Despite his team training the big Saurus could not get down the thrall without being pulled down himself. In fact as the dust cleared the Saurus was dead! The Thrall was barely hurt. Our apo rushed onto the field and pronounced nothing could be done and Amazonia's neck was broken, with no way to save him. Krygor got up amused while Count Sirius picked up the ball. Tlaxconqua though at least got the vamp down and though a thrall made a good effort he couldn't get through to score. So despite our saurus loss we ended the half 1-0 up and confident of avoiding defeat at least.
Very early in their 2nd half drive the Archduke, who had the ball, let a chance go to Superiore to blitz him. But he avoided the hit. They switched sides but after some battling we gave him a narrow, defended gap on the sidelines to go for. Though a Saurus was hypnotized and the Vamp hit down a skink he was still tripped up by the remaining two. Surely we had done the defence and got the match in the bag! But no Outeiro dropped the ball and it bounced in front of 1 saurus who was then hypnotized by the Count. The Count then waltzed through to score.
So then we still had some time to score a winner and it looked good when this time Outeiro picked up the ball. However the supposedly sure feeted skink then tripped up just as he was on the last step in getting into the security of our cage. Two collossal screwups in short order from the same skink. A position of control disappeared in a moment with the ball also dropped away from our main protection. Perhaps I shouldn't of done it but it had seemed to be no real risk. A Saurus and Diablo were hypnotized while the Archduke picked up and raced forward. Spartacus had a great chance to get him down with help from a skink but he failed too. Still Superiore just needed to dash around to make it very tough to get through and he then fell! What a calamity. The Vamp then made the equal strength block he needed and got through for an astonishing winner. Good game but the players must be shouted at for losing it. Not Champion standard, the same as last time we faced Vamps.”
