“We setup for a Squig Herder head to head here ready for a brutal contest. In the end it wasn't so brutal but a combination of another great Big King performance and a lacklustre effort by some of the FDCTUA players led to a comfortable victory.
Our angry squigs started by badly hurting two gobbos, then an opposing gobbo was sent off after a weak kick on Monkey. After that it was little trouble for Big King and co to go straight up the middle of the pitch for a score.
In response Garamond picked up the ball as they received. As some of our players advanced he handed it off to their other rider Dougal the Demon who then blitzed and leaped through our line for a near end to end move. But Hardest Nutz with support blitzed him down and caught the dropped ball. Dougal had to be patched up by their apo. So at half time it was 1-0.
Devil missed the start of the half after being ko'd in a vicious foul which resulted in a 2nd sending off. We blitzed forward at kickoff with Stick it up 'em getting under the ball but failing to catch. After a lusty squig bit one of their gobbos they were running out of players. There was a ruckus as the ball was fought over but it was Big King that emerged from the dust cloud with the ball and dodged away for the 2nd score.
With a perfect defence and a short kick Big King was right next to the ball at kickoff but Dougal the Demon picked it up and tried out a long pass to Aesgurd. But the herder couldn't catch it and after that the match was over as a contest when Big King got across and picked up the ball. Their squigs were going dumb or lusty and Big King took his time to soak up the adoration of the crowd before scoring his third.
The squigs didn't perform for hbgs today but it was a fun contest till early in the 2nd half.
