We scored to make it 1-1 and then on Turn 8, we took down the skink ballcarrier with the hope of stopping the TD (or real slim hope of passing upfield and scoring ourselves). However, for a second time, the bouncing ball goes right to a suaras and glue hands does it again. So the half ends with us down 1-2.
Second half, we kickoff and start taking risks - RRing a push block...fouling - we manage to BH on sauras, and numbers are thin on both sides - but the speed of the gutter runners allows for a 2d on the ball. This was the critical sequence that went in our favor. We took down the ballcarrier and recovered the ball. This forced out the lightning bolt...now a skink failed the 3+ pickup and RR. We responded by *making* the 3+ pickup with RR and racing away with the ball. Turn 4 of the second half we scored and it was 2-2. Brand new game.
We kicked off and pitch invasion took out 3 of our players and no lizards. The kick also bounced to a skink who caught it. However, the Krox boneheaded and then a block was double skull with no team RR left. We used up our last RR to strip the ball and recover it - caging up. Then it was down to just making a few final rolls. We go the 3+ to escape the prehensile tail and tackle, and another 2+ away from tackle and we had the ball in scoring position. A last desperate break tackle blitz failed for the lizards and we stole the game.
It ended up being a good game even after the brutal start. Good luck rest of season.”
