“Ugh. Frostheim as my second match was not appreciated. Another elf team would have been nice. But you play the cards you are dealt. Frostheim lost their first match, but have a dangerous bunch of killers lead by two emerging stars, the Minotaur King Diamond and the Chaos Dwarf Attila Csihar (with PO and MB). I am one saurus short, but the rest of the team is ready. No inducements to either side, but we have the fan advantage (home team) and choose to receive. So far, so good.
We fake left, and changes to right, but is hampered by the fact that Winner fumbles the catching of Mobster's quick pass. Thus, by pushing my sauruses around, it is open for a blitz by Teloch, that KO's Swinger and bounces the ball, luskily into Winner's hands. Booster gets his first kill of the day, but the Frostheim apothecary manages to save experienced CD Necrobutcher, although he can't prevent the fractured leg which sets him on the sideline for the rest of the game and the next. Winner advances the ball up on our right side, but is hampered by a blitzing BC Varg Vikernes, and when Mobster tries to pick up the loose ball, he can't get a grip on it and it bounces away. Thus, Frostheim get the chance, and plow away all the Scavengers, sending Mobster off for the game badly hurt, and Emerging star Hobgoblin Maniac cn pick up the ball. All ten remaining Frostheim players are up and waling, while scavengers are prone all over the field. Not good. Frostheim advances, but leave Maniac a bit open. However, Claws is tripped as he tries to break tackle to blitz Maniac, and thus Frostheim can ease in the defensive TD, KO-ing Breaker in the process.
Still one turn left, and Warrior is ready for the one-turn score attempt. However, Fraternizer is a bit too hard on CD Shagrath and KO's him, thus failing to use him to push Warrior into a scoring position. Sigh. At least Winner got a pass out of it. In a clumsy last-minute foul attempt, Frostheim hobgoblin veteran Dead is banned by the ref.
Frostheim ahead by one goal, and my skinks refuse to return from the KO-box. WE are 9 players against 9, so this does not look good. Frostheim only needs to prevent a Scavenger goal, so Maniac keep the ball in the backfield as the line struggles to prevent a breakthrough. However, we first manage to penetrate with Winner, and when Attila tries to blitz him, he trips over his own shoes, and suddenly, poor Maniac is rushed by eager Scavengers. Protector is there, and so is Warrior and Winner, whose block KO's Maniac. No other Frostheim player is even near the backfield, so Winner can easily pick up the ball and walk across the goalline. We choose not to stall, inorder to have a chance to win. Could probably easily have gotten a draw here, but a win is better. Of course, this also opens for a Frostheim victory, but it's hopefully a calculated risk with half of the half left to play.
Both our skinks are back, so we have 11 players. Only badly hurt Mobster is missing. Frostheim is down to 8 players now, missing CD Necrobutcher and the two hobgoblins. Thus, they are outnumbered and short of good ballcarriers. On top of that, we get Perfect Defense, and pins down their line. They start with crowdsurfing Idler, but then Vikernes fails to pick up the ball, and the Scavenger avalanche is crushing the Frostheim guys, lead by Booster who gets his second kill in on emerging star Attila Csihar. This time, there is no apothecary, so Attila stays dead. Frostheims best player is gone, and will be a big trophy in Booster's collection. The skink squad goes into action, and Breaker, Swinger and Wiggler block off any help, while Protector pins down Vikernes and Winner picks up the ball and quick passes to Warrior, who unfiortunaetly fails to catch the pass. It does not matter much though, cause all the remaining CDs are locked at the LOS and the Minotaur is on the other side of the field, struggling to move back into range. The two Bull Centaurs try valiantly, but two sauruses and five skinks is too much for them, and Winner can score the gamewinner. The remaining turn is just a mess, but nothing more significant happens.
Frostheim tried hard, and made an excellent defensive TD in the first half. Things looked bad for us at the start of the second, but attrition took its toll, and when Attila failed the GFI early in the second half, we could use it to rush in the equalizer. Gambled by not stalling, but it paid off as a severly outnumbered Frostheim was an easy target, particularly after their morale took a dive at the loss of their emergent star Attila.
Booster got a skill after his two kills, and we chose tackle, since our likely next opponent will be either the high elves or the wood elves.
