After rookie opponents in round 1, it was wightless and inexperienced opponents in round 2. The Count and Setekh both returned for another bite at the Pig Sty Alley cherry although no wizard this time.
Dancing in the Moonlight received in the snow, but the sun soon shone and it melted and made the ball slippery. First a failed pick up, then a failed catch, the Palm swooped in to steal and survive the incoming blitz to open the scoring with an early defensive TD.
Marun's team had a 2nd go at the drive and this time got the ball quickly under control before moving around the side. It was Pig Sty Alley's turn to struggle as failed go for its and dodges were the hallmark of a stuttering defense, the equalizer never really in doubt. A perfect defense seemed to spell the end of the counter one turn score but, even though Marun left me a slim chance, it wasn't to be.
2nd half and now the Moonlight players had the bit between their teeth. Setekh stomred out of the blocks on a blitzed kick off and badly hurt Landlady - a big set back. A foul took down a golem to even it back up, then a zombie was smashed to give Marun the upper hand again. Another foul crunched Setekh but the play was opening up. When one of my block-less golems knocked himself down early in a turn it looked like overtime was beckoning, but once more the Palm withstood the blitz to put Pig Sty Alley ahead again.
There were 2 turns left - quick snap and touchback! The Count stormed forward but the side steppers got in front of him. He couldn't find a way through and the XFL champions move on to round 3 and their biggest inducement challenge yet.”
