Field Report #225141112

Our second encounter with the the Ape creatures and this troop had a much different dynamic, with two Orangotans and a mighty Silverback leading them. The Simyins decided to launch the ball at us, clearly eager to watch how superior beings play the game. They were sadly disappointed as an inept first play only succeeded through some major luck, leaving our newly agile researcher out on a limb and in range of an angry looking chimp. Fortunately the chimp could only manage a push and then, for the second expedition in a row, what was meant to be a quick score ended up in a full 8 turn elfstall. Once again we showed these beasts how to hit, badly hurting a gorilla and a bonobo. Everything we tried seem to work and nothing the hapless beasts tried could stop us and even our light armour managed to hold strong.

The 2nd half saw us employ the leaping technique to pop the ball and our catcher was called into action, picking up the ball under the legs of a gorilla but then tripping on a snake that had crawled into the clearing, fortunately only badly hurting himself but leaving the ball on the edge of a precarious ditch. The muscle armed "Throrangutan" tried to pick up the ball, failed and one of our team took great pleasure in knocking him off the edge, grabbing the ball and scoring. After that the apes were disheartened and we ran riot, picking up two more TDs in the process.

A very profitable expedition against this unlucky group of apes, one of our lead researchers took careful notes of the silverback's technique and now can mimic his mighty blow, two of other team now have additional research skills and we look forward to employing these with the next troop in the study.
