Seriously, after briefly enjoying a Perfect Defense, NSWB was indeed plagued by bad rolls from the start, including some critical ones at the worst moments. The Tree took root Turn 1 of both halves, leaving only 10 WElfs to cover defense 1st Half, 9 the 2nd. The 'Sons had great weather for their drive, but a Blizzard struck in the 2nd half, shutting down any long air game and stopping the faster elves from stretching out beyond the Norse' MA range. The early Fireball went 1 for 3, and that one only a knockdown. 1st half, 4 WElfs were KO'd by Turn 3 and another KO'd & 1 more BH'd by Turn 6 (leaving only 4), and 2nd Half, starting w/ 9 (plus the rooted Tree), they lost 3 more by Turn 3 and another 2 by Turn 6 (again, leaving only 4 to defend). Eldril was the first KO both Halves, Turn 2 of the 1st Half and Turn 1 of the 2nd Half.
Turn 8, the short-handed WElfs had a one-Turn score set up, made the 3 Pushes to get within Range, and another to clear the marker from the ballcarrier, Eldril Hypnotized the only obstacle to avoid need to Dodge - and the j-man who was in range to make the handoff failed the 2+ pickup and wasted the RR.
On their 2nd half drive, Turn 3 and ready to cross into Norse territory and looking for just a Push, a quad-Both-Down mid-Turn left the ballcarrier open to a Frenzy surf (after BH'ing the St 4 blitzing WElf!), and the partisan crowd spitefully threw it back deep to the WElfs' 4 yard line where the Norse could recover and threaten the score. Following Turn, the only dodge used the last RR, and the unsupported no-dodge ballcarrier survived the 2d Blitz. They had a late chance to 1d the ballcarrier to stop the score and possibly recover to tie, but Both-Downed the block with a non-Blocker.
And on, and on...
For the Norse, facing fewer and fewer defenders, they merely had to stay conservative and grind up the field. Still, Coach Cavetroll kept up good, constant pressure despite the few players remaining on the field - AV 7 just betrayed him this day.”
