The Little Kaltens came in the game as the underdogs according the to betting line - but you would not know it by their attitude. They came ready to play and looking for the upset. Skitter Stab-Stab gave them some extra mobility and wizard was along for the ride as well - looking for that right moment to turn the game around.
The coin toss went the way of the Little Kaltens and they elected to kickoff - eager for that defensive TD that would swing the game. However, with goblins as their front line - they quickly were reduced in numbers...although more importantly their clawpombers proved utterly ineffective at removing the chaos dwarf blockers. Steve, the legendary hobgoblin, had some problems this game however - was it nerves? Seems odd for one so experienced and skilled (AG 4 sure hands), but he failed his first pickup of the game - that would follow by a snaked dodge a turn later - and the legendary bull centaur would snake as well on his dodge two turns later. The result was that Little Kaltens had their opportunity - the wizard shot a bolt of lightning to knock the ball free and with the Azure Claw Squad being off their game, it opened enough of a chance - and the Little Kaltens seized it to score the defensive TD that was obviously their plan...1-0.
The first half was not finished however, and Azure Claw Squad realized that it was time to get into gear - with another kickoff and this time no wizard to contend with, Steve grabbed the ball and started marching down the field. There were some tight moments, but the Squad did enough to ward off the Little Kaltens on the march to the endzone. Of note...Little Kaltens's clawpombers continued to come up empty on each and every block or blitz...1-1.
One last turn for Little Kaltens to score, and Skitter Stab-Stab was ready for a push, but it failed (Pows instead) and with no RR that was it...but wait! Pickup, handoff, troll toss...perfect landing only 6 spaces from the endzone! There was a change, but he had to get past the tackle laden dwarves guarding the endzone - and there is where the valiant goblin came up short.
Second half started 1-1, and Azure Claw Squad up 11 to 10 players on the pitch...however, a perfect defense stacked the LOS with guard and put Little Kaltens in a tough spot - they ran around the right side of the pitch, but clawpomber failed to break armor on the Fend dwarf...then as they tried to protect the ball - they failed to realize that Alice was skilled in diving tackle...with a perfect dive - it ended the turn for Little Kaltens. The ball was exposed and very quickly it was knocked free with both bull centaurs standing next to it. Some last minute heroics were attempted by Little Kaltens, but it was all over - with their players locked up and quickly being shuttled off the pitch, the Squad took the ball, handed off to Anika and scored as time expired to seal the victory.
Game was well coached by Kaltenland who had a great plan - but came up just short. Thanks for the game and good luck with your team!”
