Swings of luck for both teams (and coaching errours for SVD) spelt a game that could have gone either way, but ended in the middle with a tie.
Both teams started strong, with SVD KO'ing a Gorilla Turn 1 and then the 'Saw (who missed the first foul) KO'd the Slann Passer Turn 2 with a Lino joining him. The Slann then opened their Turn 2 with a 1d on the ballcarrier, which Pushed to a Skull on RR before moving anyone else. Over the next 2 Turns, Monkeyboned easily pushed the screen up to stall on the goal line while the 'Saw missed 2 blitzes. SVD had a 1d GFI blitz on the ball, and accepted a Push to force the early score and get the 'Saw off the field.
The SVD Passer woke up, who completed a pass for a 2-Turn score to end Turn 6 and was kicking again, 1-1, challenging the Apes to match their 2-TS.
The Gorilla woke up, and an extreme scatter and bad bounce put the ball out the back of the endzone and, and chose to put the ball in the hands of a Gorilla on the LoS. The Apes KO'd 2 LoS frogs, and GFI's got the St 4 ballcarrier to the 7 with support but unscreened, where the Slann were able to pop the ball, and a bad bounce put it next to a DT Slann player, half over, but not before a Gorilla and Bonobo were BH'd.
2nd half 8 Apes (3 Gorillas, 1 Chimp and 4 Linos) were kicking to 9 Frogs, but immediately took advantage of questionable positioning and pressured. The Frogs fell back, but opened Turn 3 with quad-Both-Down, and the Apes popped the ball and recovered behind a 2-ape screen back at the 4! SVD pinned them there for a Turn, long enough to pop the ball loose again Turn 5. The Apes' attempt to recover went OB, but the Slann could only recover but not protect the ballcarrier, using their last RR. Apes ended Turn 6 with a one-ape blitz, pow, scoop and score - 2-1.
Slann now had a do-or-die 2-Turn Score to tie the game - and no RR's. After sending 5 players downfield into scoring range, Turn 8 a 2+ Jump-Up to clear the receiver failed, but the GFI, Pass, (avoiding the 5+ Int), 3+ Catch, 2+ Leap and 2+ dodge did not - tie game, 2-2.
Turn 16, the Apes showed they appreciated the effort by (understandably) gang-fouling a lino - only Stunned, game over, tied, no perms for either side.”
