- Rush & Pass League, Season XI, Game 1
”Both teams came in hoping for fast and furious scoring, but Perfect Defens and Blitz! Kickoffs turned that into dogfight after dogfight, and both teams lost as a result of the low scoring.
Padfinger chose to receive, the kick was deep, and a Blitz! was punctuated by the Wizard stunning the designated ballhandler, leaving only a lino in the backfield. 3 2+ dodges, 2 GFI's, a knock-down on the Pass Blocking Star and a 3+ pickup/3+ pass/2+ catch (and Team RR) later, Padfinger had recovered and avoided the Turn 1 defensive score. Turn 2 a lucky knockout opened a sideline cage, and some 1d's slowed down the elf response, which was a 4+ dodge for the 2d surf on the ballcarrier - which failed despite Team RR. Padfinger broke out with the nearest (true-rookie) lino, the 1d blitz found only a Skull RR'd to a Push (using the last HElf RR), and Turn 4 it was 1-0.
The 2 HElf KO's woke up to see a medium kick and a Frog Blitz!, altho' the 3+ Catch failed, and Padfinger declined to use their last RR. The Eagles recovered and Passed the ball up, and triple-dodged through the Frog LoS, but the 2nd GFI failed on the 3 yard line. Turn 5, again Padfinger found enough dodges, GFI's, and the pickup/pass/catch to recover the ball into something like a screen, tho' now their last RR was gone too. Elf-luck failed then, as 2 Turns in a row early GFI's failed, while Frog Blocks BH'd lino, RIP'd Pass-Block star Longstride, and 1D'd several others to the ground on their way to a T7 score, 2-0.
The Helfs had 2 Turns to respond, and got a lone Blodger into scoring range. A Wrestling Padfinger blitz could not find a Pow or Both-Down on 6 dice (using a newly acquired RR), and stupidly left a chainpush opportunity to free the receiver, who succeeded in both GFI's for the score, 2-1.
2nd Half, a Frog Perfect Defense slowed the HElf effort, and a Turn 2 Padfinger 1d leaping blitz knocked the ball loose near the LoS and started a 3-Turn ruck where the HElfs regained possession only to lose it again (and a Lino surfed into reserves), and fail to find a Pow on 4d on the ballcarrier. The Frogs chainpushed to 1d 1 of 2 marks off the Ag 4 Blitzer, lept to get him the ball and at the extreme range of any blitz - Turn 5 the Eagles declined to attempt to stop the score, 3-1.
Turn 6 nothing prevented the fast score, but the Eagles chose to cage near the LoS. This time the Frog 1d leaping blitz found a Skull, and their ballcarrier moved to the extreme range of any blitz. Padfinger made the attempt, and failed the GFI - 3-2.
Turn 16 the Frogs set up for a OTS attempt, but the opening blitz was a knockdown, game over.
