“We lost the toss and had to kick.
First turn he needed his whole team to knock down two Ogres which was pretty funny. Not much happened early on, he screened the ball while snot hunting and one got sent off trying to foul out his leader(only source of RR).
Eventually turn 3 our chance came and got 3 dice on the ball. Could have taken both down but used the RR - sadly no pow to take down his dodger. A mistake to RR there? Probably.
He dodged away and made a shallow screen - mistake from him as Arnie made his 3+ BT dodge in for a double pow and a stun!
From here I just tried to keep TZs on the ball as I didn't have any faith in a pickup and didn't want an unfavourable scatter. Eventually he managed a one dice push onto the ball but luckily a brogre caught it. There was a chance of a TTM on turn 8, I did some chains to set up a hand off then a throw but sadly double skulled the last block.
2nd half started our 10 vs their 11. My plan was to take no risks and hope my Ogres could survive the -2dbs they were bound to face.
Turn 1 was ugly as we failed 3 boneheads and got a snot bh. Luckily Arnie was able to run back and make the pick up on turn 2. Now there was a little hope of heroics with BT.
Turn 4 the RR was used cos Arnie rolled a triple both down. The DE were swarming the ball and getting -2d shots but eventually on T6 we broke out and made a play towards the halfway line.
I made a horrible move with an Ogre here, leaving the -2db open which he took and pushed Arnie back. Another bonehead play by me followed as I thought I was going to chain with 2 unoccupied spaces... oh dear oh dear. Had I moved the snots first I think I could have recovered from the mess but instead I got stuck and needed some magic n turn 8 for a TTM but the first move boneheaded which made a dodge blitz necessary which failed.
Even though at the time it felt like his dodges were amazing and I rolled a lot of boneheads the luck was pretty even. I did get lucky to stop his TD and made a couple of really bad errors on my drive which ultimately cost me the win.
