Coming to the game, I expected to be crushed easily, because my opponent has a nicely-developed team with Tentacles and Claw and a great ball-carrier to boot, and what do I have? Three puny blodgers and a good passer (which would be no good because of DP all around). It turned out to be not so bad, even with a chance to win for me.
First half, receiving BooAhl has left the ball-carrier, Lans, exposed to a 2d block, and a lucky Pow has come up for me. Lans and the mighty Beast of Nurgle
attempted to recover the stolen ball, but I took no chances and first Pied the beast, and then lightning-bolted him so that the tentacles wouldn't stop my witch from scoring. (I dislike tentacles.) In the two remaining turns, I made a mistake of not moving a defender one step further to the sideline, and that left open a path for the score. 1-1. Thankfully, only two casualties for my elves, which tend to fall like halflings in usual games.
In the second half, I managed to sneak a touchdown in the first three turns, but couldn't stall against the massive nurgle horde. After some fight (not really hard), BooAhl scored from a tight position. (And in hindsight, a side-stepping witch could block the way for that play. Alas.) In seeking a casualty on a rotter before the overtime, I foolishly exposed the witch to the hit from Beast, which smashed her ankle. 2-2 and overtime comes.
I recieve, push the elves forward, get the ball and move it a bit back; he surrounds my guys with his. The heroic blitzer, Veronax, came out of the 2 tacklezones and ran almost until the finishing line. Then the no less heroic runner has passed the ball through half the pitch, somehow managing to be far from the Disturbing warriors and the beast. (I figured a 4+ pass to the scoring range, 3+ for the one position before that, and took the latter option.) But the two guys that were surrounding Veronax came back to him in force and horns, Powed him to the sideline, and the helpful fans threw the ball far back. Then the great Erdsa's ball-carrier dodged through the small 2-elf screen and retrieved the ball. In the last desperate attempt to get it back, I figured a plan for a 2d block, but the 5ag blitzer who had to leap into the mass of nurgles got distracted and rolled snakes. That sealed the game for BooAhl's victory.
An unexpectedly fun game, and great opponent. Best of luck in the following rounds!”
