The Skink was killed on the first die roll of Turn 1 by a generic Blocker - happens. The rest of the match was appropriately civil and relatively bloodless, with both coaches simply keeping the T5 Kickoff Bribes in reserve as a threat against the other coach using theirs first. ;)
The DElfs opened their drive with some terrible dice that first lost the ball and then skulled a 2d to get it back. But they pressured the T3 score and performed a classic 2-TS to tie T5, under pressure themselves. The Expats almost regained the lead, but a double-dodge blitz past a DT, a terrible bounce and catch by a DElf, and then no Pows on 8 dice by the Lizards kept the score tied at the half.
2 more skinks were out of the game (both courtesy of the no-Block Kicker!), so for the 2nd Half the Expats decided to try to score with a rookie Saurus - and he started by catching the High Kick on a 6+! Poor play calling made things look bad end of Turn 2, but the Expats were able to switch sides of the field, cage and screen just enough, and score with him Turn 5.
Against a badly thinned defense the DElfs flooded 6 potential scorers downfield with a Blodge/Tackler in support, so the Expats sold out to put on the pressure on the ballcarrier in the DElf backfield - but Ag 5(!) prevailed, and the score was tied at the end of a Riot-adjusted Turn 5, 2-2.
With 3 Turns to go and nothing on the line, the Expats went for broke to skill the rookie Saurus who had previously scored. He made the initial 5+ pickup and moved up behind the LoS. But no one had woken up for the Lizards, and with only 9 on the field they could not screen against Eldril's Hypnotic Eye, and a -2d found double-Both-Down to pop the ball and allow a DElf Ag 5 scoop and pass to end T6 with the ball safely in the hands of the Malice. But with no RR's, the T7 pass was dropped, the Expats swarmed to screen and mark the loose ball, and that was the game, an appropriate tie.”
