174 SPP Wight Mortem was in position to score a t7 TD, after some bashing by the Cult, we noticed that only Mortem was in a position to score and decided to use the wizard to lightning bolt him. Bondabur were out of RRs, so even a pickup meant a chance to fail, and if we got a stun it meant a guaranteed no TD... Well, the wizard earned his money that game causing a non-regenerated BH which both prevented the TD and removed the 174 SPP wight from the rest of the game!
The babes paid off with some helpful KO rolls and the second half seemed to be entirely in the Cult's favour, moving the ball, dominating the play, etc. It looked like it would be an easy walk in stall-TD for the cult when suddenly a non-break-tackle mummy made a dodge and some gfis to knock down the ball carrier, and have the ball land near the sidelines.
Things were still looking good for the Cult because we had an easy pick up and multiple players in the area... A failed pickup with RR followed by the ball bouncing out of bounds and getting thrown back in on the opposite side of the pitch behind enemy lines (so to speak) where it was closer to the Cult end zone but the Cult wall which had been shielding off Bondabur defenders now flipped and was shielding the Cult players away from the ball.
Bondabur's 94 SPP Ghoul, Hanno Schlenkerfuss managed to run back and retrieve the ball... Suddenly it looked like Bondabur had the W, with relative ease. The cult did their best to recover, running backwards in what looked like would be a race to the Cult end zone... With some options for catching Hanno not all hope was lost, but certainly it was looking bleak.
Fortunately, the Bondabur were out of RRs and the 7 Str Mummy Kil-Dorf-Kra failed a dodge abruptly ending the Bondabur turn.
This allowed for the Cult to pounce, with multiple players in Hanno's TZ our tackler managed to knock him to the pitch, a decent ball bounce allowed for our 51 SPP Ghoul Diyani to pick it up and pass it to 30 SPP and 4ag Wight Bhuj in a position where Bondabur would not be able to recover.
Finally, the Cult victory was sealed and a t15 TD gave the Cult the 1-0 win and allowed them to move on to the next round. It was a hard fought game on both sides where the Cult managed to sneak by mostly thanks to a VERY effective wizard which managed to save a TD and take out the Bondabur's best player! The Cult's record improves to 14/2/5 while the Bondabur's very impressive record 'falls' to 46/14/14.
Best of luck with the team!”
