“What a match. With solid defence for a moment it seemed we had the win in our grasp but a drop in rain and then a remarkable legend play somehow left us with defeat.
First half they were struggling to advance against our wall of Saurii and were going side to side. Diablo cas'd a Norseman. Unfortunately some of the Saurii were messing up blocks to stop us really getting control and then in the final moments I needed a skink to backup players in the way of their carrier. It tripped up and then the Snow Troll was able to move the one Saurus in the way aside so their Beserker could score.
Rio Grande started the 2nd half by messing up a block. We did though hit hard and we were now up to 4 casualties caused, including an Ulfwerener! Diablo had been hurt too but had apo attention so could return.
So with just 7 players the Norse had another drive. We blitzed forward but instead of hitting the Runner Spartacus fell in front of him! As the Norse then tried to move to the side of the LOS the runner fell. Surely now that was curtains for the outnumbered Norse. The Snow Troll was stunned by Superiore and supporters so Santo just had to dash across and pickup the ball. But the supposedly agile skink dropped it in the rain. So close to having victory assured but we were still around the ball. Then the really incredible happened. Grinding Wheel, the legend Runner, got up, pushed the skink out of the way and then got into the ball area watched by 2 Saurii and the Krox, and somehow managed to pick up the ball in the wet (6+)!! And then dodged out and ran away. Then Velocidad could have got in front of him but slipped up and the win was somehow theirs. So disappointing as both halves we almost stopped the drives but the skinks just couldn't finish the job. Good match. ”
