“Ulthuan Invitational XI Round 1

Well, the match-up against Big Gob bashas II looked like a tough match on paper for the Cult of The Scourge but with a wizard, a babe, and hack enslash the Cult was optimistic that with a couple early casualties they could pull out a victory.

This was certainly not the case. Big Gob bashas received and swiftly knocked out/injured multiple key members of the Cult's squad. Hack Enslash was RIPed on the 3rd or 4th turn after being largely ineffective with his first few chainsaw attempts. Shortly thereafter 55 spp Ghoul Diyani was killed on the pitch.

The Cult contemplated using the wizard several times in the first half but being down in players so much there never appeared to be an opportunity to really take advantage of it... The Big Gob bashas easily walked in for the 1-0 TD lead entering the half.

The Cult received in the 2nd half, down in players but two sets of quick double skulls led to a difficult road of recovery. Suddenly, the Cult saw an opportunity... An effective wizard fireball could potentially open up the running lanes for 4 str Ghoul Xyuja. They took their opportunity but the wizard was ineffective. Regardless, they got the ball to Xyuja, after a guarded skeleton dodged successfully, the 1 die hit was a pow... All we needed was an auto-RR-ed dodge and suddenly there was a good chance the Cult could tie it up 1-1... But not on this day, as Xyuja tripped, leading to an easy and quick 2-0 lead for the Big Gob bashas.

Severely down in players, surprisingly, the Cult managed to get the ball again feeding Xyuja down-field pressing into enemy territory but again, it was not meant to be as the vastly outnumbering Orcs were able to recover with a 1-die pow and the ball bouncing directly back into their Blitzer's hands. This then lead to an easy walk-in TD to make it 3-0 as there were roughly 5 Undead players left on the pitch.

A tough game for the Cult as their armor seemed destined to be broken and nuffle appeared to have it out for them on this day. Regardless, the Cult are proud of having won their qualifier and having been invited to the big show. They look forward to rebuilding in time and competing yet again some day... Hopefully sooner than later.”
