“This was just a random impulse game; it's been a long time since I dusted off the Mesozoic Meatgrinder. This would prove an interesting challenge, as this opponent has a bench of skinks. I wasn't going to just be able to go skink hunting unless I played aggressively and aimed to nail the population down. Ignoring Sauri is never a good idea.
Naturally, the lizards FED themselves to the meatgrinder. First half I received, but first turn wasn't much in the way of a bloodletting to try to thin the herd. I'd bought a card for giggles and set up a pass for it but the card was a no-help after the dodge failed (and of course, they got the Invulnerability Belt... because of course they did). That cost me the game right there. Once they got the ball, they never let it go.
We managed to knock the ball loose at great loss of pitch population with a few both downs (each one resulting in a KO for my skink, yet the opposing skink was unhurt), but even so, with the rest of my team clustered around the ball (3 TZs) they still roll 6s and run off with it. When the dice are this against you, you sit back and hope there's no killing.
The Kroxi stupid'd out 4/8, which REALLY hurt my chances, and even though we got close to the end zone on turn 7, a lizard showed up out of nowhere from the back, caught up with me and stopped my drive. Jump Up was no help since I still failed the dodge.
Second half we just didn't have bodies enough to amount to much of anything. 5 KOs on the half, two wake up to make it an 11 vs 8 with just two skinks to spare. One gets KOed, the other stunned before he can make himself useful. I think my opponent scored out of pity for me in order to give me a chance (that and the triple skull my kroxi rolled against a skink wasn't a kind prank by Nuffle). Almost had a chance to recover around Turn 5, but nope, doubleskulled on that block and the next turn the ball bounces into a saurus' claws.
Then when I blitz THAT sauri with a one die block, it bounces into a skink's claws! Come ON, Nuffle!
Armor 7 is hard to break!”
