The ogres kick to start, elves fail a pickup... Suddenly a throw teammate (TTM) later and a snotling is in the balls tackle zone threatening to score. 3 Block dice, no pows. The snotling needs a 4+ pickup to score, misses, ball bounces towards the corner... Another 3 block dice, and then a blitz and the snotling ends up forming part of a 3-way blockade with the ball in the corner, and 2 elves blocking the high elf thrower who cannot attempt a recovery... The next turn, the snotling makes the dodge and the 5+ pickup for a quick 1-0 lead.
Next drive, similar story, a snotling manages to harass, ball ends up on the ground and suddenly the Ogres are up 2-0 and receive at the half!
The elves have one last drive to try and salvage the game, they need a score... It appears like an easy pass/catch walk in when suddenly an Ogre intercepts the "safe throw" pass. As spectators on IRC pointed out, you can't safe throw a pass once it's in the ogres mouth!
Suddenly it looks like the Ogres may be able to go up 3-0 on defence! However, a -2 BD hit with strip ball puts the ball on the ground, and the elves quickly scoop, and turn it into a TD.
At the end of the half, 2-1 Ogres while receiving... A bit disappointed that they still have to face a full team... No casualties yet... (or ever)!
Deep kick forces the ogres back, but they recover well until another -2 BD hit from a leaping catcher who wrestles the Ogre to the ground, Elves recover and convert for the score... 2-2.
Still, the ogres have confidence... Now, a kick forces them all the way back deep, the elves are applying the pressure when yet another -2 BD hit results in the ball on the ground and the elves recovering. The ogres can get a 3 BD with RR hit on the ball carrier but need a bonehead roll (2+), dodge (2+) and gfi (2+) to get it, they fail the bonehead roll eating up the RR and then fail the gfi, giving the elves the easy walk in score to finally win 3-2.
In the end, the catcher made three crucial -2 BD hits and failed none of them, which directly led to the 3 elf TDs and the 3-2 defeat.
The ogres has some crazy ball-luck early in the game getting 2 quick scores, but managed to cause no casualties in 43 blocks, despite several piling on attempts! In the end, it was a hell of a game... Tons of fun... A bit more casualty luck early or a roll here/there late and the ogres could have won or forced a tie... But they hung their heads high even after the bitter defeat.”
