Nonetheless, the game was far from the dour blocking battle the stats might suggest. Both coaches tried to play the ball, and only desperate last-ditch defence from the Hollanders stopped the Thunderers from scoring midway through the first half. Having sacked the dwarven ball-carrier, the Hollanders tried desperately to turn the tables and Brick, a wight, was free and clear to the endzone with seconds on the clock when he tripped and fell.

With the dwarves technically on defense, a much-reduced Hollanders team found themselves swamped early in the second half, the ball-carrier sacked almost as soon as he'd picked it up and, after a brief melee, Dwarf Blitzer Snorri Bjarnebye retrieved the ball and flung himself over the line for the only TD of the game to add to his casualty from earlier in the game.”
