“Very fun game! A perfect defence on the opening kick-off allowed us to smother them, eventually forcing them into a tough position where we were able to capitalize and get a defensive score. Tough dice made it hard on our opponent, leaving him in difficult situations, but he played well managing to turn a tough situation into a T7 score to tie it up 1-1.
The heat was our friend entering the second half with 11 players vs 8. We managed to get into position to score and stall. Our opponent applied some pressure, putting guys within striking distance of the ball carrier. We had plenty of guys able to peel back, with a RR in hand. We moved one player to block a linemen and proceeded to make a 2 BD block hit, we rolled quad skulls leaving us in a sticky situation. Our opponent managed to pow the ball carrier, recover the ball with his 5 ag Catcher and cover him up enough that we couldn't get a hit.
We attempted to bottle him in as much as we could but he scurried away and went for it twice for maximum separation. With 1 RR only, we needed a 3+ dodge and 2 gfis to get a hit on the ball carrier that almost surely looked like he would score. The game went from looking like a sure win to a sure loss on account of some poorly timed quad skulls. However, in yet another turn of events, we succeeded the dodge, the 2 gfis and KOed the catcher.
Our opponent puts a blitzer in scoring range and gets two players on the ball. We decide to play aggressively, starting with a 3+ (dodge skill) dodge to setup a potential chain push. We 2 BD (no block) a lineman out of the way to allow our killer to jump up and blitz his player in the ball's TZ, we pow him, resulting in an RIP to the MB, Tackle, PO blitzer and simultaneously chain push the lineman out of the ball and our prestigor's TZ.
This allowed us to scoop up the ball, gfi once and pass it to the open man, who managed to catch it with the help of a RR and scamper off into the end zone for the 2-1 lead.
The humans nearly pulled off a one-turn TD but thankfully the kick pushed their thrower back to his goalline forcing him to throw the ball to a linemen to then hand off to the catcher, and our beast of nurgle managed disturb his presence leading to a dropped catch and the end of a wild, wild game.
This marks the first loss for Le retour des sales gosses, falling to an impressive 14/4/1 record.”
