“Ah, the perfect recovery match, and one the U-dogs even have a chance of winning – let the stunty flinging contest ensue!

Match Highlights:

The U-dogs blitz run around the ‘Flings line for a lightning fast score against the kick. But the FFS squad respond immediately with a successful 1 turn TD Throw Team Mate play (the first I have ever actually seen work). Three turns into the game and already the scores stand at 1-1.

Impressed by the sight of a Flung ‘Fling the U-dogs attempt a TTM play of their own and with the expected dire consequence for team ball retention. After a short scramble for the loose ball FFS come away with the ball for a second TTM attempt, this one markedly less successful and the ball is once more loose near the halfway line.

It is at this point that the match turned nasty – Gerald passes a comment about the nature of Treeman’s Bruce Bark’s parentage and their role in the thatching of the stadium roof, in response to which Bruce throws a nearby Halfling straight into Gerald’s face stunning the Troll and seriously upsetting the Halfling’s lunch satchel. As the remaining Halflings scramble to rescue, and eat, the spilled sandwiches Goblin Dave-eyets is able to run the ball just short of the FFS endzone, before being blitzed by yet another Halfling launched by Bruce Bark. Fortunately for the U-dogs Ber’anx is on hand to take the ball over the line for the second U-dog TD in the same half!

The second half opens with Azu’nee attempting a solo run down the FFS flank but quickly finds himself surrounded and backed up against the touchline my a mob of half-pints. Somehow he keeps his feet and stays in play making it back to the relative safety of Gerald’s protection. But he is driven into the crowd by Halfling rookie Perlan Zeneon with a 2 dice against blitz manoeuvre. The throw in goes straight to Bruce Bark and for a moment it seems as though the ball might get stuck in his branches, but it is dislodged again when a pair of startled nesting birds takes flight. The ball is loose and both sides scramble to claim it, Cee’gra is first on the scene but his pass is dropped by Per-yats. Then Nelson Idoton manages to claim the ball and doge through to set up yet another TTM attempt by Bruce Bark, who fumbles when Gerald distracts him by breaking several twigs over his knee. The ball once again in U-dog possession at least until Dave-eyets and Per-yats get into a fight with each other over who should get to carry the ball over the line, letting said pig’s bladder drop to the floor as they engage in an exchange of shin kicking.

It is at this point that FFS’s Davbin Jangin produces the play of the match dodging through multiple tackles, he picks up the ball from between the squabbling Dave-eyets and Per-yats and proceeds to dodge back to team-mate Perlan Zeneon, successfully handing off for Bruce Bark to launch Perlan down field free of the ruck of U-dog players and giving him an unopposed walk in to tie he match up 2-2.

All who saw the action today agree that this stands out as one of the most exciting and entertaining games of Blood Bowl seen in recent hours.
