“Highlights:
The U-dogs are playing without a thrower today, and it shows as the first pass attempt fails to reach its target and the ball is meekly surrendered to the woodies just 5 yards into their half. However, the Wood Mates did not recon on Ber’anx and his horn enhanced blitzing ability – he takes a step back before charging and the woody ball carrier goes down to flying headbutt from the skaven blitzer who grabs the ball and then deftly hands off to team mate Nor’zarax as the elves drive him to the ground in retaliation – who says Underworld lack finesse in their ball handling? But the tree huggers manage to surround Nor’zarax, blocking his route the endzone and forcing a turnover as he tries to wriggle through. Then up steps the unlikely hero of the move, U-dog goblin Odd-een, who puts down the wood elf trying to block him, dodges through the pack, grabs the loose ball and sprints over the line for an incredible score – may the dark god reward him for his skilful play!
In the second drive of the match the elves demonstrate their agility and speed to out manoeuvre the U-dogs, switching play from one side of the pitch to the other effortlessly and leaving most of the U-dogs badly out of position. It is only thanks to some inspired dodging and gang blitzing from the U-dog goblins that the elves are prevented from a walk over TD. Out of the ensuing melee Squee-lee, the U-dog linerat, emerges with the ball, racing against the clock to score ahead of half time but the Wood Mates’ defence proves too good and he is held up well short of the line. Halftime score: 1-0 U-dogs.
At the start of the second half the Wood Mates once again display their innate speed litheness to wrong foot the U-dog defence, releasing Lineman ‘Watson’ for a score in the corner, scores are 1-1.
The U-dogs go for a passing play as Gerald and Ber’anx open a gap in the woddie line for Dess-eyets to exploit, but once again the lack of a thrower on the team lays the U-dogs low as the pass fails to connect with the dodgy little greenskin. The Wood Mates’ thrower ‘Cannon’ recovers the ball and shows the U-dogs how passing is meant to be done by sending the ball down field to his unmarked team-mate ‘Future’. Squee-lee manages to bring Future down but nothing can stop Wardancer ‘Snoop’ from picking up the loose ball and diving over the line for the woodies second TD.
With just two turns remaining in the match the U-dogs line up for a TTM play. See-em gets the ball and Gerald remembers not to eat him, but the throw is too short, See-em can’t quite make it over the line – the final score remains 2-1 to the Wood Mates
