“Supposedly a recovery match for both squads, not likely against a display of Conventional Brutality! Not to mention the green things and their propensity for taking to the bench.
They took the kick, but our defence switched to wide Ogres and Bruiser got around to KO their carrier and green things swarmed the ball. Their loner tripped on the recovery and young Ribbit was away with the ball. They stumbled on the blitz, the green screen holding up for a change. The lads all played dumb and they got another, but it wasn't successful and Ribbit blitzed(!) free to score.
A pitch invasion saw them through to the equaliser, but there was time for a run before the half and a green thing set off with the ball, lost as per usual. Fortunately Bruiser had cleared the way with a bruising hit on their witch, so Muscle could muscle in to clear the ball, Rasputin off to Bruiser in traffic and he away full stretch for a TD! Ha! That's the stuff, lads!
They blitzed us in the second, devastating. Bruiser bruised up their witch, seriously this time, but only Ribbit could get back for the deep kick. The crowd threw the resulting scatter back to our mid half, and what if a loner didn't trip onto it again! Mumbles had it, then they couldn't pick up, but I was tentative with the lads and they soon got their second.
Another deep kick, and Bruiser couldn't make a hit. We were under pressure immediately. We got a rough cage up, but their blitzer was strait in and the ball fell in the midst of a mess. They picked up a scatter, then so did Muscle, only to play dumb with it, they worked to clear a hit on him and the ball was caught by their over-worked blitzer and time was called on us all. A draw!
Tight stuff, Ogres out of place, good work from set plays but the lads are slow to adjust to the trickier kickoffs, especially multiples of them! Counting to two is hard enough for the boneheads, let alone having two game plans!”
