We won the toss, elected to receive. The kick went short, right to L.B. Johnson, who was waiting behind the line. The oppo must have known the short kick was coming, 'cause they were on us before we could respond (Blitz!). A little bad luck and in a jiffy, LBJ was down, the ball came free, and Polk got injured. Their Wight, Burning Love, scooped the ball and we found ourselves playing defense on our own half. Jefferson managed to get the ball free again, and though their Ghoul swept it up, we managed to surf him, and to injure their #2 Wight. This really opened the game up, as the ball scattered deep into the Undead team's backfield. They managed to recover it, but we managed to bully their Ghoul to the ground and force another throw-in, this time in scoop range at maximum move for Lincoln.
The second half, we kicked off 11 on 9. They ran the ball north, but a wall of trash kept them from getting through to the endzone. We used our manpower advantage to lock out the south side, and the north side just became a horrid jumble of players pinned down and going nowhere. Finally, on Turn 7, their Ghoul managed to break free, and though we weren't able to blitz him down, we were able to square-mark him and force a 1d blitz for the tying score, which failed.
Very solid game, could have gone either way. Replay recommended.”
