#12 Smogdar Rockfist – Fractured Skull (-AV)
Second game/ third round of XFL Orcs IX.

The Horde won the toin coss but decided to kick in the first half. Gilgorod's Tribe was happy to receive and exploited being on the initiative. The whole game would be characterized by dozens of armor breaks and subsequent KO's and injuries. At times it looked more like XFL Skaven than a match between orcs...

Some initial casualties/KO's due to lucky armor rolls and well-placed boots (the Tribe's dirty player played only 5 turns before being badly hurt, but played the game of his life nevertheless, kicking out 3 or 4 players of the opposition). Due to diminishing numbers on the other side, the Tribe was able to stall out the first half, but not without losing the ball first on a -2d double pow(!), which was fairly easily recovered. Despite a massive one-sided pitch invasion on turn 8, the Horde didn't manage to throw their goblin, since the ball landed on the sideline.

Bad KO rolls resulted in only 8 players showing up on the Horde's side for the second half. Some good hits took out 2 players on turn 1, somehow evening the odds. Eventually the Horde broke through and the ball-carrying goblin evened the score. Gilgorod's Tribe still had 4 turns left to score a second touchdown. Not willing to risk the wizard taking down the ballcarrier, the Tribe opted for an alternative battleplan, trying to get a player on the other side for a pass. This didn't work though and the game went in overtime at 1-1.

The Horde received, but lacked in numbers. Armor continued to break, especially on the Horde's side, and a last desperate effort to force the breakthrough with a lightning bolt failed when the goblin missed his dodge, which decided the game.

A very interesting, though weird game (too many armor breaks) against a good and friendly coach.
