#8 Nool – Smashed Hand (MNG)
1st game for my Ratz since 3/21/04...and they showed the rust
1st half..starts out good (I think I hate starting out good on the 1st turn, because it often seems to turn around and kick me in the @$$)...anyway, quick snap, pick up the ball (in the rain) and pass it to Hyper Speed who runs in (2xGFI) for the OTS. The Fury score in 3 turns themselves, and I take it a little slower this time--on my 5th turn, I go for the TD..needing only 1 GFI to go up 2-1..1 rr 1..BH. (or stunned, but I think it was bh). they get the ball and go up 2-1 instead. I realize I have sidestep and can 'easily' try a OTS, so I set it up, but the ball is kicked deep and I only have my thrower back there...the rain has cleared up by now. Thrower gets the ball..GFI once..could throw it with a 5+, but one more gfi and it's a 4+ (or I could have 4+'d to a GR in a TZ then handed it off)..failed. They get the ball an score on turn 8
2nd half is more of the same..they score quickly (4-1)..I try the OTS and fail the 1st of 2 GFI's needed..stunned. He gets it and scores quickly (5-1)..I try again..Blitz and the ball is kicked short, they surround it and the AG6 GR gets the ball. I actually do get a 2db on him, but--unlike every block on any of my BC's that have Blodge--he doesn't go down...and they score quickly again.. 6-1. I finally get the OTS done right and make it 6-2 with both teams having 1 turn left. He tries the OTS, with me in minimal OTS defense.fails the 2nd dodge needed...I fail to pick up the ball for a quick pass.
oh, and my armor was non-existent as well...both are skaven teams, but I got out skavened this one :)
Post game was nice..Full Throttle (who finally got the TD he needed, as he was at 74spp..now 77..gets +1 STR!!! So, 9/3/4/7/Blodge/side Steap/sure hands (oops, forgot he had that)/Nerves of Steel (hey, I often run my GR naked deep, this does help with that strategy)
and Stinky (blocking linerat) rolls 4/4 and takes claw.
70k in treasury...just shy of GR #4.
Keeping Unclean..6/3/3/6 niggled kicker all he needs to do is kick well ;)
