“SLITHERPOOL FALL APART IN BATTLE WITH CORPSATRON REX
The wheels fell of the bus for Slitherpool as they dropped a decisive decision to Corpsatron Rex 3-1 in their third Lumburgh Cup match. The tone of the match was set early as the mummy KING TURD KO'd FIST FULL O' PAIN in the first frame of the game. This was the first time in the Cup that Slitherpool didn't have a clear strength advantage in the contest and it showed as Corpsatron Rex had advantages in key physical statistics Blocks 53-51, Casualties 3-2. INTESTINE EATER was able to score very early in the first half while ACE SMASHFACE got KO'd and BENCHY was badly hurt and the Slitherpool defense crumbled. In the later part of the first half Slithpool set up a cage around LUCKY and tried to outflank Corpsatron twice but was unsuccessful and the first half ended 1-0 in favor of Rex.

However, as the cage broke down thanks to the Mummies of Corpsatron LUCKY got absolutely wrecked by SLIM CORPSE and was badly hurt and sent to the reserves. This time SKUNKY was the skink in the cage who was quick and alert, jumped on the fumble and scampered away for an equalizing score halfway through the match. On the next Rex drive the Slitherpool defense got caught underestimating the passing ability of the opponent. They let HAMBURGER TIME sneak behind the defense unmarked and Corpsatron was able to pull off SLIM CORPSE hand-off to LOOK AT MY FACE and then he was able to toss a short pass to HAMBURGER TIME to make the game winning score a play even Elvish teams would admire.
When PUNCHY failed to pick up the ball in the waning moments of the game it was clear that Slitherpool's chance at a second equalizer would go for not. In this last effort for PUNCHY would try to throw a pass but fumbled to ball back toward the endzone and HAMBURGER TIME was able to jump on it and score a second time as the final seconds ticked away. Though this play didn't change Slithpool's fate it has brought up questions about their defensive strategies.
