What a wild start to the fumbbl cup! We jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead: we started with a quick score, and after a rookie line elf missed a pass and left the ball on the ground, we managed to scoop it up and take possession to go up 2-0.
We lost Gabriella pretty early on (MNG+niggle apothed to a MNG). Our defence was looking promising yet again, as we got the ball on the ground, but failed to secure possession. After another opponent missed pass, we managed to scoop, pass, catch, and attempt to hand-off to our 5 Ag wardancer in 3 TZs that could have leaped away for a 3-0 TD and the lead but we missed the drop on T7, which allowed for our opponent to scoop, pass and score, making it a 2-1 game when we were already down in numbers.
We played a good second half despite being heavily out numbered. Our guys kept fighting despite repeated fouls, and even managed a couple 1 BD hits on the ball carrier, knocking it loose a few times. In the end, with just a treeman left on the pitch, our opponents scored on t15 to make it 2-2.
With just 5 elves on the pitch, we nearly pulled off a one-turn TD to win it, but we needed a 5+ pass, but instead our opponent got a 6+ INT, forcing OT.
Luckily, we received in OT, and due to all the fouling, our opponent was relatively low on players (compared to what he could have been). We were feeling pretty confident with both our catchers back and with our thrower (both wardancers were casualties at this point).
Then suddenly, a blitz! our opponent presses deep and stuns our thrower leaving us somewhat stranded between the his players, the ball and the end zone. Thankfully, our catchers are super fast, and managed to dodge his way back to recover the loose ball, and gfi 3 times (sure feet!) to get in range for a 3+ pass and 3+ catch (catch skill) to our 2nd catcher, who was then able to dodge away and run off towards the endzone.
Our opponents last chance was to blitz our Blodged catcher with his assassin, but thankfully, the dagger did not penetrate our lack of armour, allowing for an easy 2+ dodge away and score to win the game 3-2!”
