The game started well with the Greenskinz receiving and killing an av9 beastman in turn 1, as well as fouling a rookie chaos warrior off the pitch with Ugroth Bolgrot's chainsaw. By turn two however he was sent off the pitch, despite a bribe (get the ref on kick-off) that the ref refused to accept.
Despite the number advantage it was hard getting through, mostly because the Orcs were lacking a bit of guard. At one point chances had to be made and because Make my Day had already suffered a RIP and a MNG as well as three ko's by turn 6, I decided to try to decimate the opposition further, as I still had a wizard in back-up which I was hoping to use to steal the ball in the second half. Meanwhile the Greenskinz were taking hits as well (lots of claw/mighty blow on the opposition!), but with 15 players and two bloodweiser babes I had a bit of a bench, while Make my Day didn't have even a single reserve player. That left us at 0-0 at half-time.
Unfortunately I couldn't remove any more players during the last two turns of the first half and 2 out of 3 players came back from the ko-box. The kick was deep with only one beastman to pick up the ball. A reroll had to be used to fend off double skulls and the beastman failed the pick-up. I managed to send three blitzers downfield to chase the ball, but the beastman managed a pass. Time for the wizard to play his magic, but he missed both targets (a chaos warrior and the ballcarrying beastman). That was pretty much the end of the game I thought, especially since the Orcs really started crumbling under the continuing onslaught by then. Despite a lucky succesful -2d blitz later that half on the rookie chaos warrior carrying the ball after a hand-off, Make my Day managed to score in turn 8 of the second half (which wasn't that easy after all since no rerolls were left to pick up the ball and score).
That left me one turn to try to launch the gobbo for the equalizer and it actually worked (this could be very well my first one-turner with orcs)! High kick made it a bit easier, since the ball landed right in the hands of a blitzer. I cleared the LoS, made the hand-off to Samson the goblin and Arme Joe threw him far enough to run the ball in with one gfi and a few dodges (all that without a reroll being available).
We took some major hits, lost some important players (the only tackler and a ST4 lineman), but we didn't lose!”
