Like their kicker, Icebeard, who gave the ball up to Corruption. There's a start. Extortion was tried, the most dauntless of the Norse succumbing quickly. Dirty Pool was in play from the start, and why not with referees on the take. They took a dislike to Nepotism, but avoided the Loon for a bit until Fungus started seeing them tear to the knockout box.
Eventually The Mauler cleaned up Dirty Pool (he refused to come back on), but Conspiracy was too much for The Axe to keep that little competition of most nefarious sorts well alive. Time was running low; Corruption stalled us longer than desired, but Coldwind "couldn't block" Nepotism and we were in anyway.
They got a half time show, Corruption under attack, but our refs were unamused and put Bear Arms on the bench too. The same to start the second, only with a Lightning Flash for the end zone in place of foul play. Thieving took the ball off him. Anarchy was unleashed, but only put Secrecy to bed, these Norsemen too orderly for all that.
Lightnining Flash "couldn't pick up", Nepotism found the scatter easily, and with Bribery tying up half the team and Corruption the other half, he ... said he tripped in open space and just left them the ball. That wasn't what we paid for, something fishy here.
For a moment they were playing for real, Conspiracy cleaned up, Eagle's Sight chained free and grabs the ball, but a wink and a nod and Lightning Flash "couldn't catch". Fraud worked, picking up in traffic and away, Corruption covering. Fleetwind "couldn't pick up" the next scatter either, and then "couldn't block" Corruption. Hah, runners well in the pocket. The Mauler "couldn't block" Graft, hilarious, and despite some fumbles Thieving was away and we won comfortably.
This bribery, the corruption, it's delightful. The Mad Midguardians walk away with more cash than us (and a few less players!), as you'd expect with the B&C winning, but we'll take the wins any way we can get them. Nuffle, you old kidder, what a shambles.”
