A bit of a wild game. We liked our odds on paper, a beat-up woodelf team with only one wardancer (wrestle+sb+tackle). We received, made a bit of a fun mummy crowd surf, but our side stepping mummy got reverse crowd surfed by 5 elves! An interesting turn of events, well played by my opponent.
We marched down the field but got ourselves in a sticky situation because of too much elvish guard and managed to lose control of the ball. The elves managed a defensive score to go up 1-0.
As expected, we proceeded to beat up the elves knocking them off the pitch but mostly KOing them. We entered the second half down 1-0 but up 11-8 in players. We put together a bit of a sneaky ball carrier sack, which allowed us to dislodge the ball while knocking some elves off the pitch, we eventually recovered the ball.
At one point, with the ball on the ground and maybe 2 elves + tree on the pitch, our opponent managed to dodge around, scoop it, and tried to seal it with a punt (would have left us with ~3 turns to try and bring it all the way back), but thankfully he fumbled it, allowing us to recover and we managed a painless last turn score to force OT.
We won the toss in OT, and had significant player numbers... Allowing us to guard/cage our way down the field slowly. We were feeling confident until the wardancer leaped and -2BD blitzed us (very good odds of success as our sure handed ghoul was out), but thankfully that exposed the wardancer before our opponent could recover the ball, allowing for us to push him 3 times and surf him.
At that point, the game was basically decided as we picked up the ball, protected it, and slowly moved in for the game winning score.”
