We high-balled the minimum TW to be qualified to enter the WO by over 200 TV, and in doing so, drew a well established UNDEAD team, and gave them a wizard for the match. Could have been worse; it could have been dwarves.
Coming into the match we knew it would most likely be a loss, as they're twin wights came equipped with Tackle and Mighty Blow, and they used these skills very effectively; Piling On was hardly used. We employed our best French defense for the first half (running away), which allowed us to still field 11 players for the second half, which was quite the fight. We managed to score, playing for Overtime, and when the coin came down for OT, we had no choice but to go back on the defense. After their first turn we were down to 8 players on the pitch, and the Undead made short work of us there after.
What did this match come down to? Amazing positioning on the part of the Undead, favorable kick off rolls when they were not needed, a wizard that fizzled out, and Mighty Blow wrecking havoc on AV7.
Match Highlights:
The 1d blitz (50% chance of knocking down the ghoul holding the ball), a dodge, a 4+ pick-up, another dodge, a GFI, and a hand-off, rerolled for the catch. This was what was needed just to put us into position to have a chance to tie the match. This Undead team was simply brutal.”
