The second match of the second season saw The Order hoping to build upon their 100% record in the Frozen Sea Conference against a collection of High Elves luxuriating under the name of the Nidhoggstad Firedrakes. The Firedrakes had recently been awarded two coveted banners for their strong performances in the first season so The Order knew they would be up against it.
The elves sneakily kicked the ball high into the air hoping to impale someone at the opening whistle but it bounced safely off Balmung's head and the dwarves attempted to move upfield. A Firedrake appeared to have shuffled off his mortal coil, but the attending physician was able to revive him. However that was only the beginning of the blood-letting and three other elves quickly followed him off the field of play. The remaining seven elves put up a sterling defence and it was only by the Grace of Nuffle that The Order got the opening score.
The elves equalised easily after the break and the dwarves were left with five turns to try for a decisive score. The elven kicker again landed the spiked ball on a hobgob noggin and again it failed to penetrate. The trusty elven double line of defence looked like it was going to be just as hard to penetrate but eventually broke down after a few key snakes and Thorleif was able to cross for the winner.
Nuffle played a key role in both of The Order's scores and the elven jarl felt rightfully aggrieved. They were better coached, but came up Nuffled.
Another couple of dwarves skilled up and The Order marches on, now with twice as many victories as they managed in the whole of last season.”
