Fierce and famous orcs lined up for the qualifier final. Winning the toss, I didn't know whether to receive or kick, so internally tossed my own coin and opted to kick. It didn't take long for the orcs to mop up and nearly clear the pitch - luckily without major damage although one of my star blitzers needed the apothecary to avoid a niggling injury! Just 2 players made it to the end of the drive with 7 knocked out, however we accounted for one of the black orc blockers who went off with a broken jaw.
1-0 to Tiempo but the OTS looked on. The kick was deep, so instead of blocking first, Jim tried to early pass - Gary dropped it, due to the attentions of an orc blitzer. Damn, we could easily have been 1-1 at half time as the pass would still be in range after Gary was pushed from the maul.
Our drive went pretty well as the attrition swung our way, but the orcs were still menacing. After knocking out super star blitzer Tambien, Monk remained a bit too close to the sideline and got thrown over. Despite the Devils scoring knockouts and hurting an orc blitzer and enjoying a numerical advantage over the orcs, the pressure encouraged an attempt at an early touchdown. Another throw from Jim! Gary drops it again! GARY! A scrap is on near the sideline but the ball is fumbled into the crowd and thrown into the pitch! Legendary blitz Marmota Dormilona grabs it but lacks support, which is too slow in coming (timeout!) and Tom Scurvy relieves him of it for 1-1.
Now the Tiempo team get their own attempt at the one turn score, but the goblin drops the hand off. Overtime!
I win the toss, and a tactical battle ensues. Eventually Gary is close enough to score but is marked. Tom Scurvy to the rescue again, as the strong lineman moves the marker, and it is 3rd time lucky for Gary as he finally catches one of Jim's passes to win the Warpstone Open XI Qualifier X! Humanity makes it to the final draw!”
