Well, this was a wild game to say the least. Best summarized, we got the right rolls when they were most needed. Roxanna ended up not playing much of a roll in the game, but she was one of the players we were most worried about going in.
We received in the first half and due to some T1 mis-positioning, gave our opponent a chance at a ball carrier sack, but he failed the gfi allowing us to pick up a quick 2 turn TD, skilling up our catcher Lilraar, who picked up an extra strength!
We were hoping for a defensive score or at least to force a quick wizard, but our opponent did a nice job of guarding the ball carrier. We took one -2BD shot, which wrestled the ball carrier to the ground but the ball bounced perfectly to a nearby Amazon player, preventing us from trying to recover it. The wardancer was then fouled and knocked out.
Our opponents added a T8 equalizing TD, but thankfully, both our KO players returned. Which was important as the second half was all about numbers. On T11, our opponent accidentally exposed his only tackler to a potential 1 BD surf. We went for it, KOing him. We also managed to KO another Amazon player that turn. On the next turn, an Amazon catcher tripped while falling, injuring himself, and also exposing the 7ma, 5ag, 6 av ball carrier. Our MB wardancer landed a 2 BD hit causing a BH and removing him from the pitch. In a ~2 turn swing, 4 amazon players were removed from the pitch.
The game had drastically changed. We recovered the ball, and had the numbers when suddenly the wizard struck, KOing our 5 ag Wardancer Tinaglanb (apothed) and the ball bounced right into the hands of Roxanna! What a turn of events... Roxanna managed to dodge away and cage-up deep in our zone.
Thanks to incredible team speed, we were able to back-track and surround them, and were fortunate to land a 1 BD cage leaping hit which not only took Roxanna down but KOed her. We again managed to recover the ball.
Due to low numbers, our opponent could only muster 1 BD ball carrier hits, which we withstood. Allowing for us to break out and pass the ball ahead and cage up in scoring range. Our opponent missed a tough cage dodge which would have led to a 1 BD hit vs. blodge, and we were able to scamper in for the 2-1 T16 walk-off TD victory!”
