For the second time in a row the Black Box Revelation would play against high elves, quite an exception in Blackbox! The star wardancer did what he was supposed to do, knocking out the ST4 AG5 blodge guard blitzer and SI'ing the only tackler a little later. In retrospect it might not have been the best strategy though, because we did little to prevent the opening score in turn two. Then again, this would leave me 7 turns to continue mauling the opposition and eventually score. But then I somehow lost both my tackle/mighty blow wardancers in one turn (one got blocked, the other one got fouled). This messed up my plan, but worse, it messed up my thinking and I complicated things without needing to, eventually losing the ball. I didn't get it back, leaving the score at 1-0 for halftime.
My star wardancer wouldn't come back for the remainder of the game (failing all three ko rolls), but at least the other one came back (also tackle/mighty blow). I planned for overtime and managed to do some damage on the way, knocking out both opposing catchers. A snake in turn 7 almost ruined everything, but then the high elves snaked too, leaving me another try for the equalizer, leading to overtime.
We lost the coin toss and had to stop 8 high elves with 9 wood elves. Lacking a decent plan we improvised on the spot, but it wasn't enough. Perhaps more pressure on the ball would have been better, but that's easy to say after the game.
I lost the game in the first half, where I messed it up myself. Need to get rid of these mistakes if I ever want to play with the big guys!
Good luck to Verminardo in the next round. His team will need to honour their name if they want to have a chance ;-)”
