“Game tape shows a mixed bag. First of all, the grand scheme was fulfilled
- Winning the match
- Skilling up Mayo so he is a backup of Hightower
On the other side there were some serious issues
- Like backup of Hightower actually badly needed, as Hightower left the field early. This was his worst match by far. He should endure those soft fouls better. There was very little assistance, so should be able to take more. What went for him is eliminating the opposing speedster, thus allowing the teams 1 turn defensive plan to function. So Hightower was still important, but left a LOT to be desired.
- Brian Hoyer left the teammates down. His attrotious blocking at the middle of 1st half put the rest of the team in difficult position. It was mostly pure luck that Mayo was not sacked immediately thereafter. And even then, some risky dodge with Mayo was needed to secure the drive. Was hot!
The MVP went to Matthews, rightfully. He picked up the torch what Hightower left, and some more. Blitzed, blocked, and also held the line when needed. He was so money during the game, but a real giant upon further review.
Honorable mention goes to Alan Branch, who dished out his 1st CAS, which permed Stephon Tuitt.
Special credit goes to the opponent, who did significant damage among our ranks. Luckily none of those are permanent, and also luckily could not really capitalize on due to scoring pressure. Anyway, we should review it, and prepare better for those possibilities, and improve our endurance!”
