“Don't really want to go into details, but this was a bad-tempered match.
They say that any match you win was a good one, but the suggestion was made that my strategy was terrible in this game, possibly based on the fact that the Orcs were remarkably fortunate in handling the ball - completing passes, dodging away from opposing players, etc. Added to this was the fact that the Nurgle coach was fairly unlucky too.
So this is a tough one to assess. I think I covered the basics and all the outrageous fluky stuff was limited to the end-of-the-turn here-goes-nothing phase of each turn. Then again, one or two fewer jammy catches, bounce rolls, or unlucky Nurgle GFIs and the scoreline could easily have been 2-0 the other way. One to draw a veil over, I think.
(And here's an interesting philosophical question: is it ever a good idea for Orcs not to go to war with the opposition? There were a lot of heavy duty players on the Nurgle team and for possibly suspect reasons I opted to hold my Black Orcs and Blitzers back and let the Linemen take the hits. As you can see the Nurgle team made twice as many blocks as the Orcs (the Nurgle coach was also very keen on hanging around standing over downed Orcs at the pitch edge, in the optimistic hope I would stand them up so he could shove them into the crowd - bad dice or not, letting your strongest players get tied up by completely inactive opposition seems like bad tactics to me). Perhaps I'm still thinking in terms of running the ball down the field rather than just doffing up the opposition, in which case Orcs may not be a good fit for my natural play-style. Hmmm.) ”
