CD won the toss, and chose to kick, something I'm always grateful for. My plan is always to be 2-0 up by first half ;)
We started with a Blitz! The ball was coming down near the middle, away from my main thrust, so St5 bull and a blodge hobbo got in there, and the damn hobbo caught the ball. Having a LoS full of guard dwarves to deal with I was suddenly in a lot of trouble. Mr Klipp got over there and knocked the ball loose, and Cloggy took it behind a screen of players. Grumbledook ran alone towards the end zone.
BAM! Fireball goes off, five players to hit, but only bringing one down. Trog goes down, as the first player lost in the GLT for us. The CD still manage to open a blitz on the ball, and the dump-off is not caught. The dwarves pile on, and I'm several players down.
The ball is still loose, and no one moved to mark Grumbledook. A dodge, a few blocks and the ball is open for Cloggy to take and pass ahead. Success! I even move far away enough that no one can get at the ball at all. The CD take the opportunity to lay the hurt down, with more fouling and bashing. But as they don't move towards the ball, I sit on the end zone for a turn. Once they move that way I score, turn 4.
I field a full team, and it's a team that's hard to get past. The CD bash and run, run and bash. I foul back and get a dwarf out of commision. The numbers stay strong, and I manage to break up the cage that tries to move forward near the end. Last turn I hit the ball for 9 dice put it stays in hobbo hands. I mark it with Diving tackle and several players. The star bull blitzes and runs to the end zone. The hobbo makes a desperate passpast intercepting elves. It's a 6! But the bull drops the pass and the half ends 1-0.
I field 11 players for second half, with both St4 blitzers still up, both guard linos going. We have an interesting fight for position and numbers, and I manage to finally get those hobbos go flying out. The ball comes loose and bounces into the hands of Mr Klipp, and he stays up after several blocks. Dodge and that's the end of it. 2-0 victory!
Angie died late in the game, we had all the team there to revenge foul, but got nothing. We will remember! Awesome, forward!
