“By the end of the first turn there were 3 elves were lying in the dugout, one of whom would not be returning for the rest of the match. Things got worse from there. By the end of third turn, 6 elves were out of commission, but we had also dodged in and stolen the ball, and were secure along the sideline. When we walked the ball in at the end of turn five there were only 3 of us left on the pitch. When the whistle blew signaling the end of the first half, Sterling was the only elf to be seen. He would also be the only elf returning to the pitch for the second half.
Leading 1-nill, Sterling dropped back, grabbed the ball, drew in the defenders, and then rushed forward and punted the ball deep into their backfield. After the pass Sterling was knocked down and fouled, saved by the apoth, but forced to watch the remaining half from the sidelines.
What Sterling witnessed was six turns or ogre and snotling incompetence. It took four attempts for the snotlings to even pick up the ball, and by that time their ogre teammates had forgotten what they had been doing, so when a snotling with the ball finally ran up to one of the ogres, poking them in the leg and pointing towards the endzone, the ogre just stood their dumbfounded.
So the Mudville Vipers pick up another victory, and along with it, a shiny badge to display.
