“Big day in Kemperbad, with the Cascade coming to town. We do not have high hopes for a win, being 0-1-1 so far this season and playing against the runner-up in the division, the Knights. Apparently our fans don't have much hope either, since only 7000 of them have taken to the road to get here.
We start with the ball and try to advance it to our left side, but brutal Knights sends one Cascade player after another of the Field, and kills rookie lineman Axel Wirz. At the very end of the half we have only five players left on the Field, but are given an unexpected chance to score when Markelle Martin leaps over Bish "The Bash" to successfully blitz the Knights ballcarrier Kyle Fuller. The ball is loose and blitzer Robert Turbin dodges away from Terence West, grabs the ball and runs to the right sideline, tossing the ball into a cluster of Crimson shirts, who promptly tosses the ball all the way to the Knights goalline, ready to score for Nico Krukenberg who has pedalled towards the goalline. He arrives just a bit late, though, as Knights blitzer Lou Groza is there first. Nico tries to stop Lou, but is wrestled to the ground by Quinton Coples, and Lou is free to hand the ball over to cut-off man Trey Junkin who runs across the midline and passes the ball to Kyle Fuller, who has gotten back on his legs and runs unopposed to the goalline for the TD. 1-0 Knights, and the crowd loves it just as the ref blows the whistle for the first half.
Second half starts with 12 eligible players for the Cascade. Wirz is dead, and Althoff, Blatt and Ehrenfürst is KO'd. We field everyone, except for TJ. Vick Ballard is KO'd early, but we managed to even out to 10-10 when kicker Grompfel shows that he can use his boots to kick other things than balls, in this case Bish "The Bash", who is brutally fouled and will not come back in this match. Next to leave the field is Ingo Dedekind, who is KO'd, but when Jim Thorpe fails his dodge and is tackled by Dunkelheim, Knights quarterback Marziel is suddenly left vulnerable. Cascade fans see possibilities and blitzer Turbin manages to tackle Marziel, and stun him while Krukenberg grabs the loose ball. Sonny Jurgensen gets his second cas for the day when Turbin is promptly sent off the field badly hurt, but the best the Knights can do is to put divetackler Kyle Fuller to mark down Krukenberg. Krukenberg is not to be stopped this time, though, and he fends off Fuller's divetackle and scores a Cascade TD. 1-1.
Still plenty of time left of the half, though, and Cascade is short three players, poor dead Wirz, and key blitzers Turbin and Althoff. Knights manage to bring the ball forward and KO three more Cascade players, so there is not much we cn do to stop Dezmen Southward from scoring another Knights TD. There is still a little time left though, and Cascade brings forth Star Catcher TJ Graham. Hoffman grabs the ball, passes it to Tillman, who hands it over to TJ. He runs across the whole field and cuts in between Marziel and Terence West and gets the TD. 2-2, which also is the end result.
Krukenberg was the best Cascade player today, but Ehrenfürst was the fans favourite, likely bcause he spent his time in the KO Box making silly jokes on Cabalvision. The man of the match, however, was Knights Quarterback Sonny Jurgensen, who got two casualties, two completions and the fans MVP award. We saw great improvement in our play, but Cascade armour needs to be adjusted to give better protection, and Dietmar Althoff was again the big disappointment. He made only one Block, and was then sent off KO'd by Bish "The Bash" and never returned to the game...”
