The pain started early with 3 fast SI by my opponent and then a RIP. We had little choice but to try to race for the endzone - forcing a POW from our opponent - but he got it. No RR, he then got the pickup and GFI. However, we still could reach him with a dodge and gfi...but we snaked the gfi (it would not be the only time we did that this game). At this point, we had 3 players left on the pitch and he had skitter with the ball, without anyone in range to do him harm. However, then inexplicably he RRed a push block with his claw/mb/tackler (but no block) - and it was a turnover...since he did the block before moving skitter - this gave us a chance to reach skitter with our 2 remaining players. We took down skitter and the end of the half ended up at 0-0 which was much better than we could have expected given the dice.
The second half, the underworld were overly aggressive in pushing forward and removing more players - allowing an easy blitz to funnel through all 7 remaining players to box in the ballcarrier and mark him. he dodged free, but failed the pass and we recovered since we had the superior position and then stalled for a pair of turns before scoring. Now it was 1-0 in our favor, but 6 of us facing a full squad. Amazingly, the underworld failed a handoff and we managed to steal the ball and race downfield - but sadly they again got the pow to take the ball back - more gfis with no RRs worked and they just eeked out a score on T16. We used the apoth the turn before to save Compassion - who after the kickoff went out of bounds, took the ball and went the distance for a one turn TD and the win. 2-1.
Overall, it was an exciting game - just a shame my opponent would not chat at all. Certainly not as much fun playing against a silent opponent.”
