“An exciting first game for the Machine, as they eked out a 2-1 win. As usual versus elves, it felt like it should have been easier but they are just too tricky.

The game was much less bloody then the preseason encounter with a different set of woodies. In the first half, the Machine lost the ball against an aggressive defense, but after a good bounce managed to gain control and stall the rest of the half for a 1-0 lead. In the second, the woodies set up a 3rd-turn pass/handoff TD but the pass was fumbled. The Machine had numbers around the ball but could not secure it permanently and Durante snuck back in and stole it away. Fortunately, there were still 3 turns left, and 11-on-8, the Machine were able to march a cage down fairly unopposed for the winning score.

Wulf made an impact, - 5 blocks and a foul without chopping himself up, but never got more than a KO. In fact, the Titans went 5-for-5 on their KO rolls after the first TD. Who needs babes?! The blitzers were the stars today, though, scoring both TDs and taking out a couple key woodies.

Since the Titans are AWFC, we wish them no harm the rest of the way and hope they bloody up the rest of our division. Next up, the Knicks will be looking to avenge a preseason loss in a battle of newbies. Time to go Nick-hunting!
