It's not actually min/maxing it's league rules. There is a beginning season salary cap you have to be down to at the start of each season. TR caps represent the "salary" cap. So I had to retire a few players to get that cap. As far as starting with a rookie team as I said I understand that frustration as I had to go through the same thing.
