About turn 6 i noticed i hadn't had to use my last reroll and had ended every turn as i intended, thats incredibly rare for elves, especially as loosely as I tend to play them.
So clearly the dice were with me, and hence the first half was a near perfect stall and late turn 8 td.
I was up on score and the dice were loving me.
Second half his drive was a juggernaut. Aided by a 5-1 split on the pitch invasion he strolled right through me and my defence was scant, a simple 4 elf screen with bodies all over the floor. the Cpomb was raining in and the fouls flying. He could ahve scored early, but as a draw gave us both some chance of progress, and had clearly been my aim for turn 1, he declined.
But Cavetroll wasn't actually doing much damage. And so we were finally able to stand up and cause some problems. Mainly by requiring to be hit.
There was a key turn when the hitting dorfs left him without an easy way of staying in a good cage, he had 2 choices, fall back to a line of 3 cdb, or break for the other side and cage there with 2 bulls and 3 hobgobs, but leaving all dorfs behind. He chose that and of course it pulled the wiz. Wiz was middling, leaving ball gettable but far from ideal.
We had a hero shot here where a 2 GFI 3+pick up 2+ dodge and 4+ throw (interception at 6) for a 2+ catch would have won it, but that's a LOT of dice, and it didn't go.
So he got the ball back and went for the bull hand off which went to ground. Ball was safe but some silly elf crap bot it to my hand and when he blitzed that elf iit went to another and was eventually punted clear.
I had some very silly dice. And rode them.
Cavetroll will play far worse and win comfortably. A top coach was really only here for the dice ride.”
