Well, ladies and gentlebeasts, if you expected a bloody massacre with tiny halfling body bags, you were wrong! Even without their treemen on the first half, the Gourmet Giants managed to keep the Iceville Impalers busy.

To the surprise of everyone, the Impalers neglected several good opportunities to make a Gourmet-dish called mashed halflings, despite the fact that there was fresh hobbit flesh up for grabs. The Impalers were hungry for touchdowns instead, and scored them with such skill and nerves of steel that even wood elves would approve - one of the touchdowns was scored by a completion, as Thorulf Thin passed the ball to the quickfooted lineman, Bjauki Bluetooth. Thorulf himself also got the opportunity to score a TD of his own, just like two others blitzers of the team.

Surprisingly, the heaviest casualties were suffered by the Impalers - Finn Fearless got knocked out by a halfling, and stayed that way for the rest of the match. Whatever he earned his MVP award for is a mystery for everyone. Manfred Manslayer was another victim of a hard-hitting hobbit, and he will be missing the next game while his broken rib will mend. The Deepearth brothers, surprisingly, did no heavy damage, although the sturdy treemen did send the Norsemen flying around on the second half.

The halfling team maintained not only its health, but also its pride, as Tubby Lardcakes showed the spectators how to score a touchdown halfling style - first he hitched a ride with the Treeman Express right to the enemy lines, and despite the Impalers' cunning "halfling trap" formation, the stunty little fellow slipped right through the Norse defense, and went for it, scoring an absolutely fantastic TD. A great moment for any Giants fan, and there was probably not a single fan in the audience 69.000 who did not cheer at the sight. Even the Impalers, who already had scored three touchdowns, admitted that they were impressed by the halfling spirit.

Right before the referee's whistle signalled the end of the second half, Bjarne Bigfoot, the most hard-hitting Norseman, managed to ram himself through the Giants' defense one last time, and ended the game with a fourth touchdown for the Impalers.

The captain of the team, Loddfar Largefist, commented the game:
"Yeah, those fast little rascals are not to be underestimated. Just because we're faster and stronger does not mean we can afford to take an arrogant attitude towards them. Halflings are an opponent to be taken seriously, especially when the treemen are on the pitch. We played the game seriously, kept our cool, did not get distracted by a possible bashfest, and focused on scoring touchdowns. The key to our victory was not simply accomplishments by individuals - it was heavy teamwork and skillful and strategical blocking all the way. The Giants did a great job, and had we not stayed focused on the game, they could have easily scored more touchdowns. In fact, I'm gonna talk with our coach to see if we can get season tickets to the Giants games just to learn from their style."

As Manfred the Manslayer is still recovering from his injury, the question rises: Who will be the next addition to the roster of the Impalers? The coach did not want to comment yet, but simply said that the Impalers are looking forward to the next round of the Green Horn qualifiers.

(Good form, great attitude, and best of luck with them lil' fellows! Thank you for a spirited game.)

"This is John Mootson here, reporting on the Green Horn qualifier match between the Iceville Impalers and Gourmet Giants. We have seen some impressive things tonight!"

"Despite both the Deepearth brothers not showing up until the second half, the Giants put up a plucky fight. They did all they could to try and hold up their berserk opponents, and managed to survive the entire match with only a few cuts, bruises and sore heads!"

"Highlights included some impressive scoring from the Impalers, Giant Captain Tubby Lardcakes scoring the only Halfling touchdown after being thrown most of the way, and amazingly, Finn Fearless being punched out by one of the plucky little guys! He was so embarrassed, he stayed in the dugout for the rest of the match!"

"Despite their loss, everyone agrees that the Giants have a great future ahead of them. Now, if you will excuse me, I am going to the Giant's After-match feast! Cheerio!"

(A very good match against a very good coach! Thanks for the game Frost, and good luck with the tournament!)
