Happy Birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday from nuffle, happy birthday to me.
Man, I thought this was going to be the matchup that would send the Tauruses home packing. A very well developed vampire team coached by an extremely good coach, and one I had not beaten in two prior matchups. Today was a bit different as I was the team bringing the Claw (as in one claw, singular) but lots of Piling On. In spite of the injuries, Jokaero played a great game and his 1st half score was one of those incredible recoveries that demonstrate how dangerous an AG5 vampire can be. We had forced a turnover and had the ball, but he got it back and punched it in. We had enough time to score (3 turns) when the kickoff event was a Riot and the clock moved FORWARD! Now we only 2 turns. So I sent a bull down the field and managed to pulloff a pickup, handoff, pass combo to none other than Nebullchadnezzar. The vamps clogged the lane, and Nebulls first block on the blitz was a double skulls! I rerolled and got a push, then the 2nd block was a skull/pow. This was good enough to keep him from going backwards and he used his Break Tackle, 5 ST, Sprint and Sure Feet to pull off the score. 2nd half I thought was going to be a relatively easy cage up and score. No such luck with all that Hypno Gaze roaming free. The lads did a good job of removing the Thralls, but didn't take out too many vamps. The Counts managed another turnover but couldn't quite managed to secure the ball. They did take out both of our hobgoblin ballcarriers, so all we had left on the field was AG2. On a sidenote, I have not regretted taking 2 sure hands players. I had been tempted to use the apothecary on the first hobbo when he got KO'd, but thankfully I didn't because I had to repair an AG bust to the other one. Enmerkaurochs didn't want to let his cousin have all the fun and managed a pickup and to avoid being knocked down. It was at this point that the dice finally betrayed the vamps as they were forced to try risky dodges to get a blitz. We scored on T16 and got a Blitz! on the next kickoff to make sure there was no tying heroics.
Great game played at 2 AM for me and 8 AM for Jokaero I believe. Now it is time for go to bed.
Thanks for the game, Jokaero, and good luck with the team. I'm sure we'll meet up again in another tournament.”
