A fierce and well fought battle took place on the fields of Zharr today, fierce but unusual. For the Mighty Dwarves of Zorn Uzkul were not battling they’re distant cousins to the west, or some form of slave rebellion, no. This time they fought themselves. On the pitch it was the opening round for the race to capture the illustrious Greenhorn, and the two teams battling were Baal’s Boys and the Zharr Nuggrund Knuckleheads. Both coaches were apprehensive, and wary of the winds of magic, for it seemed that all the teams from the Great Skull Land had been pitted against each other. It seemed as if the powers that be were aligning against the Uzkul Hordes as brother lined up against brother on the pitch, determined to take home the glory and power of the Greenhorn. As the two teams took the field it seemed as if there was a mirror on the line of scrimmage, for each team was nearly identical. This would indeed be a hard fought match.
Baal’s Boys won the toss and opted to kick off. As the opening kick soared deep into the Knuckleheads zone, the cheering of the fans seemed to give the team some inspiration and extra confidence as they started their drive. Things began well as Buel, the team Minotaur and all around party animal , laid a serried of blows into Gorn of the Boys, sending him face first into the pitch. Buel’s linemates Gnar the Hungry and Ghengis the Dirty quickly followed suit sending their two opponents sprawling on their backs. The Knuckleheads offensive charge was capped off by their Centaur, Hannibull, making a blitz at one of his four legged rivals, Brind, and putting him on his back as well. The one hobgoblin in the rear, Macendale, made a play for the ball and succeeded in picking it up, as another of his ilk and 2 Dwarves came in to protect him. But now it was Baal’s turn.
It was clear now that these teams matched each other in hitting power as Baal’s Boys started repaying the kindness their opponents showed them mere minutes ago. CD Blocker, Horath, stepped up and flattened his ZNK adversary with a well thrown block. While the Boy’s other Centaur, Vromal, lined up Gnar the Hungry for a vicious blitz that fell just short of connecting, with Gnar anyway. Vromal was soon performing his best impersonation of his brother Brind a turn earlier, and slammed into the pitch hard.
