This was a nice game for us, in the rain. We kicked, and managed to get an early hit on their ball-carrier, knocking the ball loose and recovering. They managed to knock us back down again, but after a turn or two of exchanging blows, we managed to take control of the ball and send 2 of their GRs to the KO box (they would never return). We stalled out, but did have a late scare when on T7 we didn't get a knock down and didn't want to risk a 3+ dodge (auto RR). But thankfully, our opponent would have had to attempt a -2BD hit vs blodge, so we were not too worried. We were able to cover up nicely and succeeded on the 2 BD knock down on T8, scoring a defensive TD.
At the half, our one key KO returned and for the most part none of theirs did. It was 9v9 with them having 2 loner linerats and their 2 star players.
We received and quickly controlled the game. We managed to T1 blitz -> KO one of the GRs and soon thereafter managed to blitz -> KO the other. With no GRs left on the pitch, we were feeling confident. While we were controlling the play, an 'unexpected' (really should have seen this coming... Ooops!) dodge -> blitz from Headplitter sacked our Ball Carrier behind our line, and the ball bounced back into Headsplitter's hands. We managed to 2 BD blitz him and BH him.
Orodreth really earned his keep, injuring the mighty star rat ogre, and keeping the GRs in the KO box all game long. Fittingly, he earned MVP honours.
We closed the game with a walk-in TD.”
