Monk goes out in a blaze of glory! With the team outnumbered and outgunned, he charges the warrior with the ball and crashes his skull into the creature's fist, crumpling the legend blitzer in a heap of instant death. The apothecary had already been required to prevent a similar fate for Goldberg, so Monk joined catcher Birdie in the morgue. A brutal game and a glorious/dark day for the Devils.
The game was a non-contest. I was quite OK with kicking 1st half, expecting to injure 1 or 2 players and be able to take advantage of the 2 LOS hits should we fail to score. Nope, Nuffle decided it was not a viable plan. No knockdowns for 12 dice before 2 surfs are on with a push or two. No pushes those 2 turns and the ref sends off the gang foul. A terrible start gets worse as 5 players depart in 16 chaos blocks, making it 6 with the fouler.
The second half is no better. Again Nuffle refuses to let the chaos players hit the deck. A sole kayo on our drive is as pathetic as it is unhelpful against the brutal onslaught coming the other way. A catch is dropped by the humans as the skeletons are dodging away to safety. When the ball scatters a 2nd time it is caught by the warrior that Monk ends up charging. 3 players make it to the end of the game. Thankfully our talisman Assured Jim is one of them.
Dour day and not the fun game I'd hoped for. I don't mind losing, but these 1 sided games aren't much fun. Monk's death provided a brief moment of amusement amongst it all though. At least that was on my terms!”
